ANIMAL TALK
ISRO Radiology Lab:
It had been a year since the invention of the new element- Un Un Septium. At ISRO, the scientists were extensively taking tests to find out the properties of this new member in the Periodic table. The physical properties were just like the other elements but its half life rate was tremendous which made it short lived. Dr. Ranganathan had been involved in the research of this element. He had managed to develop a "stable island" for studying the properties of this ephemeral element, later he had built a crystal out of it to check the frequency generated by it.
Sitting in his vast laboratory Dr. Ranga was analyzing the frequency of the element when just he heard the screeching of the birds outside his lab window. The bird had swirled around the lab and finally came and landed on window with a thud. It was absolutely abnormal. He held his experiment in abeyance and went to see the poor bird at the window. It had hurt badly and died a few moments later. Disturbed by this view, Dr. Ranga came back to his seat and continued with his observations. Even after arduous efforts of over a week, Dr. Ranga had not been able to observe anything marvelous except the unusual deaths of animals and bird in the vicinity of ISRO. A couple of days ago, a stray dog petted by one of the professors had gone wild and finally came under a speeding bus. And today's death of the bird was similar and that was what disturbed him more.
Dr. Ranga continued with his work for few more days till he stumbled upon a thought! A thought that would create breakthrough in his experiments about Un Un Septium. He talked about his ideas with a fellow scientist Dr. Shreelakshmi Das over the lunch.
"Did you observe the deaths of birds and animals in our surroundings?" Dr. Ranga asked.
"Yeah, the death toll had been rising. Might be there's some polluted water source nearby which is causing it." Dr. Shreelakshmi answered.
"Even I thought about this possibility in the beginning, but did u observe the anomalous beahviour of all of them before death?" he said while looking at his fellow scientist expectantly.
"Hmmm... The abnormal behavior of these creatures is what confuses me."
"Listen, I have some assumption about it. And I think so that they are somehow related to our experiments on 'UUS'. Because as per my observations of the death, they started since the day I started measuring frequency of the element" Dr. Ranga enlightened Dr. Shreelakshmi.
Dr. Shreelakshmi nodded and said, "Then let us carry out an experiment on our lab rats. If it gives same result then we would be able to understand the talks of animals, birds and might be all the creatures on the earth! "
The mere thought of success of this experiment thrilled both of them. Soon after the lunch, both the scientists started with the new experiment on the rats. As expected the experiment gave results, the rats in the cage near the element had died and displayed abnormal behavior before their deaths. Now that his assumption had come out to be true, Dr. Ranga was sure about relation of the element's frequency with the communication of animals and birds which forced them to commit suicides! But the difficult part in his experiment was that the frequency was above the range of the usual frequency analyzers and so Dr. Ranga wasn't able to determine the exact frequency of the element.
Few days later Dr. Shreelakshmi suggested "What if instead of finding the frequency ranges, we try to analyze the communication pattern of the crystal and the animals?"
"But how do we do it?"Dr Ranga inquired.
"Sir, if we make a frequency detector using the crystal we can decipher the communication of animals" Dr. Shreelakshmi added.
This suggestion reinstated a new confidence in Dr. Ranga. He designed the frequency analyzer using the crystal and tried resonating with any frequency range outside the known frequency ranges. After a whole week of continuous effort and redesigning the analyzer, it had caught up something on the screen, which looked like the frequency from the new range. Some more diligent tuning led to proper waveforms on the screen and thus Dr. Ranga had discovered the new range which he claimed to be RangaHertz(RHz)- beyond the THz, PHz, EHz or even Yota Hertz.
Dr. Ranga kept on moving ahead with his new frequency range and the experimental set up to analyze and decipher and understand the Language of Animals! After a month of recordings of the communication of various animals, Dr. Ranga started to analyze the pattern in their communication and decipher their language. The interesting part was that the recordings from different animals showed same patterns, only varying in the range. Dr. Shreelakshmi assisted him and helped him to decipher the language.
"Now that we have deciphered the language let us try to record some talk in a forest." exclaimed Dr. Shreelakshmi.
Dr. Ranga and Dr. Shreelakshmi were excited about their progress but had neglected the rising abnormal death tolls of poor creatures. Each experiment throughout all these months had caused death of animals in the surroundings area. Even if they were progressing in a direction they were unable to find a reason for the deaths. The key to this enigma was in the frequency waves emitted by the crystal...
Dr.Ranga and Dr. Shreelakshmi had reached the forest to test their deciphering results with wild animals. Fortunately they discovered a herd of leopards below a hug tree amidst the plain grassland. Dr. Ranga held his breath and turned on the device. Within seconds the crystal started emitting the frequencies, the screen showed waveforms and the computer blinked the conversation- word by word. As the conversation unfolded before Dr. Ranga and Dr. Shreelakshmi, they were stunned to see what the leopards talked about!!
Not long before they had seen the message on the screen they turned their heads up to see a cloud of smoke approaching towards them. The herd of leopards was marching towards their car. Dr. Ranga quickly shut down the device and whole setup, packed up things while Dr. Shreelakshmi ignited up the car. The leopards were getting nearer and nearer. Fortunately the car started at the right time and both had a narrow escape.
Dr. Ranga and Dr. Shreelakshmi were numb. They were petrified by the events that took place. Moreover they were shocked to see the deciphered conversation. Dr. Ranga had understood the reason for continuous rise of deaths of animals. Everything was crystal clear now...
The deciphered conversation was-
"Ever since the old civilizations we have been faithful to the humans. There was a time when we shared a bond with them and communicated with them. Those were the smart humans who could relate to us and understand our talk. But the modern beings lost their way of communicating with us and on top of that they started hurting us for their benefits!" said the old wise leopard who was the Head of the herd.
"They mock their ancestors and think that the stories delineating our talks with their forefathers are purely imaginary! As if the hunting of our fellow beings wasn't enough they have started using our way of communicating to kill us!" he further added.
Looking the puzzled expression on face of all other ingenuous leopards, he explained," The recent sudden deaths of many animals wasn't accidental; they all were urged to commit suicide in some or other way! Few humans have learned our way and are using it to kill innocent animals and birds by over powering them and killing them."
Suddenly the old leopard stopped as if sensing something and looked at the car of ISRO. "The hunters are nearby and they are again trying to kill us, but we won't let it happen", he leaped and ran towards the car as he said this. The herd followed their leader...
ISRO Radiology Lab:
Dr. Ranga had realized the flaws in his design and stopped using it. The crystal used to emit random waves on its own which meant something fatal for the animals. After many more months Dr. Ranga and Dr. Shreelakshmi re designed a safe frequency detector and eventually started communicating with animals, finding a way to restore the harmony which we HUMANS and ANIMALS once shared!
